Teaching students how to run or hide in a terrorist attack - Child friendly booklet.

(0)
After the Paris terrorist attack, good advice came out from homeland security on what to do if you face an attack. However it was focused on adults and not child friendly. I thought I would create a simple book which explains to children what is now recommended in the case of an active shooter attack. You should however still point out that this is an incredibly unlikely event - but one students now need to be prepared for.

There are bones of fish, whales, snake and cows, to mention just a few. Human Skeletons: Here is a nice resource pack which contains a lot of the different bones students need to learn about. The photos are fantastic. Teeth: This includes what we need to have nice teeth and a few photos of what happens if we are not careful with our teeth. 3D Monthly Desktop Targets Pyramid, Motivational Quotes And Positive Behaviour System

(0)
Make target setting an interactive, hands on activity! This ideas is based on a simple 3D square based pyramid net. There is space on each side for students to write down their monthly English, Maths and Social targets. There is also a space for their name and something they learnt in the previous month. I added the motivational quotes so students appreciate what they are learning towards. I added the positive behaviour system, where the students move around the track each time they achieve their pyramids targets! The harder they work, the faster they move around the track. Lots of fun for everyone! I have created this worksheet in black and white so teachers can either print them on white paper or onto different coloured papers, the idea being to change the colour of the pyramid every month, so everyone knows which pyramid they should now be following.

All about me pennant - Getting to know you activity + Thinking Hat Reflection Sheet

You simply print off this pennant at the beginning of the year as a Getting to know you activity. I like the idea of laminating them and placing them directly above the different groups of children. The children can quickly learn more about each other. The students have a chance to set themselves a fun target to achieve in the year. At the end of the year the students can then look again at their targets and see if they have achieved their goals. This could also make a very homework task. Get them to build up their pennants using different materials from around the home. I added a reflection sheet for times children are not quite as good as you would like.

EYFS Visual Timetable

Empowering Young Learners: The Importance of an EYFS Visual Timetable for Educators Investing in an EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) visual timetable is a crucial resource for teachers seeking to create an engaging and structured learning environment for young children. This visually appealing tool not only aids in classroom management but also enhances children’s understanding of daily routines and promotes independence. Here’s why educators should consider incorporating an EYFS visual timetable into their teaching practices and how it can be effectively utilized in the classroom. Visual Learning Support: Young learners, especially in the EYFS stage, benefit greatly from visual aids. A well-designed visual timetable helps children comprehend the flow of their day through colorful images and clear symbols, making it easier to understand transitions between activities. Routine and Consistency: Children thrive on routine. An EYFS visual timetable provides a consistent framework that helps reduce anxiety and confusion about what to expect throughout the day. This sense of predictability fosters a secure learning environment. Encouraging Independence: By using a visual timetable, children can learn to refer to the cards and follow the schedule independently. This empowers them to take ownership of their learning and develop essential life skills such as time management and self-regulation. Facilitating Communication: The visual timetable serves as a valuable communication tool among teachers, students, and parents. It allows parents to engage in conversations about their child’s day, reinforcing learning and continuity between home and school. Cross-Curricular Integration: Educators can incorporate the visual timetable into various subjects, such as math (discussing time and sequencing) and language development (describing activities). This integration enhances understanding and retention of concepts across the curriculum. Behavior Management: Utilizing an EYFS visual timetable can help set clear expectations for behavior during transitions and activities. By associating specific cards with positive behaviors, teachers can create a more focused and harmonious classroom atmosphere. In summary, an EYFS visual timetable is an invaluable resource for educators, enhancing routine management, promoting independence, and supporting effective communication. This tool not only enriches young children’s understanding of their daily activities but also creates a positive and structured environment conducive to learning, making it a must-have for early years educators.
